Steppin' Stones

I don’t know how I got here I just landed here somehow
Not exactly where I thought I’d be, but good enough for now
Been driving down this bumpy road, turns unpredictable
That’s what happens when you choose a path that unconventional

So I landed in this place not sure exactly what to do
Some times I worry about myself, if I’ll ever make it through
Set my sight to look ahead, then I will not be thrown
I remember everything I’ve done have all been steppin’ stones

Steppin’ Stones/never know what to expect
Steppin’Stones/jumpin’ from one to the next
Steppin’ Stones/ I’m just passing through
Although I’m using steppin’ stones, I’ll never step on you

I’ve done so many different things you think I’d have my fill
Working all day in the hot sun just to try to pay my bills
Mama said honey-isn’t it time you settled down
Oh but mama don’t you know by now you can never keep me down

Steppin’ Stones/never know what to expect
Steppin’Stones/jumpin’ from one to the next
Steppin’ Stones/you’ll never keep me down
I’m searching for higher ground

I learned my lesson/ I’ve got to keep on steppin’

Some day I’m gonna take these stones and build the highest mountain
Grow apple trees with golden leaves and marble wishing fountains
Until that day when I can say, I’ve finally found my home-
I remember everything I’ve done have all been Steppin’ Stones

Steppin’ Stones/never know what to expect
Steppin’Stones/jumpin’ from one to the next
Steppin’ Stones/you’ll never keep me down
I’m searching for higher ground
