Katrin, a rising star in North America and Europe, hails from the Boston area. She is the embodiment of pure talent... the likes of which we have not seen in a while. Katrin weaves together an awe-inspiring voice, unbelievable guitar skills (that are definitely not reflective of the self taught musician that she is) and thought provoking lyrics to captivate her listeners.
Together, KATRIN and her band (Alison Keslow,_Bass, Scott Taruli, Guitar, Mike Casano, Drums and John Harrington, Guitar) consistently deliver on a promise: Audiences will be fixated to a powerful, pure voice; tight and distinctive musical arrangements and a group of friends that, bottom line, just have a BLAST on stage together!
Katrin’s early instruction in violin solidified the foundation to teach her self to play the guitar. Katrin had made a discovery within herself that changed the course of her life. “I found guitar to be the catalyst for my songwriting, and the words and melody just poured out of me.” After writing and performing over one hundred original songs, and releasing three independent cd’s, she continues to craft her self-made style.
Katrin broke onto the Boston music scene, singing and playing guitar with her band at local hotspots; The Rathskellar, Mamakin, Local 186 and The Kendall Café. Since then, Katrin’s talents have sharpened and her fan base has exploded. She has evolved from that humble start to winning National songwriting awards including “The Mountain Stage Newsong Festival” and “Solarfest” in VT and is regularly touring Europe where she recently returned from a tour of Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy and Germany in support of her newest release “Soul Wide Open".
Listening to Katrin sing in a live setting with her acoustic guitar is mesmerizing. When she performs with her band, the influence that each musician brings to the stage turns every song into a lush tapestry. Katrin uses many different guitar tunings in her songwriting, and has created unique versions of cover songs using her open tuning style. Katrin’s voice is organic, the sense of commitment that is felt through her music can only come from an artist who is pure and true…a rarity in these days of manufactured “talent”.
